You could probably follow the instructions for compiling AOKP, but pull in some cherry pick commits for IR support. Though I don't know how much merging would be required...

Riiiiight! Using my phone as a remote doesn't have anything over using my regular remote. Except maybe you can change channels at the bar or store without anyone knowing.
