Mod Type:: ROM

Difficulty:: Moderate

Mod Status:: Stable

Apply In:: CWM Recovery

Requires Root:: Yes

I have done SO MANY instructions to do all of this ROM Flashing crap. Either my phone loads absolutely nothing, or the boot screen freezes... I need specific STEP-BY-STEP info for Cyanogenmod Android 2.3 - 4.2, any of the range of these OS versions...

I'm new to the ROOT world, so I don't know what ANY of this... I'm using a 'ROOTED' Droid Incredible 2 with 2.3.4

Also, the Mod Status is nothing, it was just required...

If you unlocked your bootloader via the HTC Dev Unlock tool, you'll need to flash the boot.img for whichever ROM you flash separately.

0. Set up Android SDK with working adb and fastboot
1. Download ROM and place on SD card
2. (Flash a custom recovery if you haven't already) Boot in to recovery and flash the ROM.
3. Boot in to Download Mode, connect your phone to your PC, and flash the boot.img file that is packaged inside the ROM .zip file (the command should be "fastboot flash boot [file path to boot.img]")

If you need any more specific help, let me know. I was stumped for about 24 hours before I figured out that this was all I was doing wrong.

I rooted an Inc2 last night and ran into the same issue as the original poster stated, while doing a separate flash boot.img works but I don't understand why I needed a separate flash boot after ROM installed. The phone was unlocekd by htc-dev.

I have another Inc2, it was rooted when I bought it, and I never have to do flash boot.img after a rom install, I simply install a rom from zip and it boots up just fine. Is there anyway to avoid this additional step?

Thanks
