I think it would be possible for the mobile-use patches (host mode + charging) to make it into CM. However, I do not think CM will be interested in the fixed installation functionality. I thought about this a lot and I assume the dash board install use case (or similar stuff) is maybe a little too special purpose for what CM is trying to achieve.

The patches would only affect the N7 kernel and would have no consequences for other devices.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. There was talk about having a new option in Settings that would allow audio hot-plug support. Wouldn't that have to be across all devices for it to be allowed in CM? I guess what I'm getting at, is if these options and kernel were available in CM, it'd be perfect for a "mobile" installation.

So getting back on track here: Timur, I think I could write a system service that would grab audio focus on charger power loss (rather than have Tasker launch an app) - do you think that's what we need here?

I think thats all we would need. A very lightweight, non-intensive service like that.

Edit: Also, a new Tasker was released today. Its a beta but it looks oh so pretty. http://www.droid-lif...s-app-new-life/

b0bd, can you do that in under 60 lines? When can I test it?

@Kookie_Monster I'll take a look. I have an AverMedia adapter somewhere in a drawer. Do they broadcast FM type radio over DVB/T?

I think it would be less than 60 lines, if not its close. DVB-T is not used in the USA - its the TV standard for Europe and pretty much everywhere else. the US uses the less good ATSC instead.

Slightly Off topic: Timur, would you consider adding support/modules for USB DAB+ radio devices? (We have DAB+ radio here in Australia).
(I have this one: http://www.digitalno...ages/Dabby.html , which does DAB+ and DVB-T. For ease of use/setup, if there was already a mature/Linux supported USB DAB+ device, I'd happy switch to that.)

N7 + DVB/T + DAC = Home Car Cinema

Oh, the important bit: it won't run out of juice.

Still... I'm guessing there's a few european users out there following this thread. It would be a nice addition, says I...

Here is a ZIP archive, containing all dvb and related modules for kernel 3.1.10-gba06546: http://timur.mobi/fi...10-gba06546.zip (13.7 MB). This is the stock JB 4.2.x kernel I use for my two USB-host variants. The archive contains two scripts files 'dvb' and 'nodvb'. I use these for my AverMedia receiver. The whole thing is not super easy to setup. To get things working, I have to load 13 modules in a particular order. Your start-up script will look a lot different. Please use the forum referenced in #288. This may work with my CM10.1 kernels, also. But I have to check.

@iceman_jkh: I'm also a DAB+ user. When you see a list of Linux kernel modules, required to operate your DAB adapter, pls let me know.

Timur... one of these days I'm buying you a few beers! Thanks :D

Anyway... I didn't even heard of DAB+ until now. Doing some research I found out that here in Portugal a few radiostations where broadcasting in DAB until late 2011, but have shutdown the project instead of evolving to DAB+.

Oh well.... gotta buy me a cheap USB DVB-T dongle to test this.

Thanks again Timur! :)
