I'm actually going to test that today.

Same with my podcast syncing.

Blasted from my Samsung Galaxy SIII (CM10.1 Masta Mix).

Does firm sleep also prevent tasker events from firing?

Firm sleep disables all wakeup events. If you don't run your own timer jobs, this is a very powerful feature.

I know I for one will need tasker to wake the device at a certain time to sync media.

This is where another, still unannounced feature comes into play. Would you do me a favor and run "adb shell dumpsys alarm > dump.txt" on your tablet and post your dump file here?

@dcplaya + RED ZMAN: Can you do the same, please? It would be very interesting to see, how that looks on a few different machines. Thank you.

Once I update to 5/3 release, I will get the dump for you by the end of the day EST time. Although, I do not currently have any alarms or stuff set up on my N7.

Common mistake. lol I also thought this when Timur asked me to do this and send him the file... until I saw the outcome. It actually displays everything on your machine that triggers a wakeup. Wanna know what I found? Most of the apps waking up my device are actually from gapps. For instance Play Store and Google Maps. Why? I wish I knew. Info updates, me thinks.

I'm gonna give this whole "firm sleep" an extensive try and eventually freeze a few apps once my N7 is installed in the car. Freezing an app is actually quite simple and takes only a few seconds (unfreezing too).

Guess I won't have to freeze apps anymore.

I've been testing the new "firm sleep" option on the latest (unreleased) beta and... WOW.

No more unwanted wakeups whatsoever.

UTC: wakeup after 1 hour 11 minutes 25 seconds deep sleep

UTC: wakeup after 3 hours 31 minutes 4 seconds deep sleep

This is better than I expected. Never my N7 had slept for an hour straight without some app/service waking it up.

Very nice job Timur!! :)

I have extracted the interesting info (packagename, type and repeatInterval) and brought it into a more readable format. Type 0 and 2 are the events, that will actually wake a device from deep sleep, afaict.

Q: Why do users not get a chance to see / control any of this?

I really love the boot animation too, but for me it is upside down. Any chance of getting one made the other way that reverse landscape users can flash?

I personally think you should use the multi colored animation. Would look really cool in the car.

with firm sleep on, my battery lost no percentage in the last 10 hours. Rather amazing. The only bad news is, as expected, my podcasts did not sync.

as soon as I turned on the screen to look at this morning, it fired off the sync.

the good news is that Comcast just doubled my internet speed so now I have a 50 meg connection at home. if it works like it did this morning, I can update on my podcasts in less than a minute while I'm getting ready to pull out of the driveway.

Here's my dump.txt

Thanks mate. :)
I will release the flashable bootanimations as soon as Timur publicly releases the latest beta.

What do you mean by "multi-colored"? What do you have in mind?

I should make something clear though. The version included in the USBROM is the oficial one... unless Timur decides otherwise. I'm thinking of making a few custom ones though. But I'll start a dedicated thread for it. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe... I haven't decided on this yet.
