The willyjay mod has faster softkey glow, 1% circle battery, white clock, bright notification icons (wont' dim), color notification icons (email, gmail, mms).....plus white 4g/3g lettering and alternate alarm, vibrate, silent and wifi icons.

Are these mods something easier to do? Could I use gimp to make icons/color changes stuff with? Never tried any graphic mods (for anything really..). Thanks...
