Guinness Theme for Jelly Belly

Image

This is a dark-based, minimalist theme for Jelly Belly ROM by Jakeday. Much of the UI removes the stock (ugly) Android grey gradients and replaces them with all black. A bunch of other changes listed below. Try it out and let me know your thoughts and suggestions / improvements. Check out the theme wallpaper below. Goes very nicely with the theme!

Theme Includes:
Color Mods
- Blacked out UI
- Status bar items changed to add some color
- Notification background blacked out
- Notification item backgrounds darkened
- Custom wallpaper
- Colored notifications for Gmail, Email, and MMS (thanks willyjay)
- Brightened notifications across the board (thanks willyjay)

SoftKeys / Navigation Keys
- Stock Keys default

Other Mods
- Extended reboot menu with Reboot, Recovery, and Bootloader options. Custom Icons. Custom shutdown text.
- Volume keys to skip tracks when screen is off (thanks kavitahara)
- 1% Circle battery (Custom made 1% Beer Battery PNGs provided in download link)
- Fast glow on Soft/Nav keys for improved UI performance
- Transparent Google search bar (thanks markdmac)
- New Data icons (1x, 3g, 4g) and moved data active icons our of Signal meter) (credit Detonation)
- Added rotation lock icon to notification pull down (default in Tablet UI, added for Phone UIs)
- Audio patch fix for JB (courtesy of Misledz over at XDA). Makes headphone, speaker, ringtone, and notification volume louder. NOTE: Installs working DSP Manager app for JB for further sound enhancements, however not needed for audio patch.

Now with Inverted GAPPs
* I decided this theme was not DARK enough so needed to add some more blackness. Credits to Rootz community as I used a bunch of different inverted Gapps as starting points. Ill put up proper credits shortly.

- Phone (was already done)
- Contacts
- Google Now (i think this looks particularly sweet)

Thanks boss. Maybe when I create some real original content I will put a donate button. Just spread the word and if you want to donate, do it to jakeday cause his rom is awesome and he is a great dev.

Nice work on this theme. I love it but it did cause some issues with my phone. after running it on my nexus for a few days I suddenly got the (system ui is not installed) message after boot up. I had no soft keys and even said that my phone app was not installed. I tried re-flashing jsut my recent JB 6.3 and gapps but it still wouldnt work. This happened to me on an airplane and thankfully I had a nandroid, which I flashed while on the plane.

Thanks for the feedback. If you got a SystemUI crash I doubt it was from the Theme. Those can be caused by a number of conflicts and/or permissions errors or bad app installs. My systemUI mods are all PNGs so its unlikely to be your root cause. I have been testing the Theme extensively on 3 phones and have not encountered that error (although i have had other issues which i think are ROM related). I would upgrade to 6.5 (or 6.6 if its out) clean with 8/19 gapps and reflash this theme. If you are still have problems lets try and figure it out.

Weeeeiiirddd. Rootzwiki was doing something to the link which i just fixed. Sorry about that.

On a different note, Jake released 7.0. I am not sure if this will work on that since its a new build. So do not try it until I test. May be a few days. Also, Google Now was updated with minor changes (by Google). Will look into that and try and incorporate.

Installed the Guinness V3 and it seems to sort of half installed (also the black in the background does not seem to be as dark as it previously was). I was previously on V2 and everything was great. Here is a screenshot:

The contacts appear to be very black, but it is actually much lighter than the V2.

What the?? How do you know Laura Kremer? I went to high school with her.

Not really. Yes, i think you are running v3 no? When i first posted it I had made a few changes to contacts but did it in an old version which i included by accident. I reuploaded a fixed version but did not change the version number. Probably should have called it 3.1. Sorry. I you d/l 4.0 or the 3.0 now posted below it, should fix that.

You really go to high school in GR? That's too funny. Laura is one of my best friends from college - seriously like a little sister actually.

I'm still running JB 6.3 and honestly haven't had any issue so will probably stick here for a while (or until JB 7.X becomes very stable). When I tried to use your version 4 (but the file actually labeled V3 like I mentioned above) gives me that weird grey bottom bar. When I tried to then re-flash the version 3 (file labeled V2 when I download it) then the contact's completely goes back to stock but other things such as the nav bar icons and such still remain with your theme. It's been weird to say the least. I don't much care about the inverted Gapps, I just want to resort back to a good version of this sick theme.

I made a nandroid a few days before I flashed the new radio's, so I guess I could resort back to that. (by the way, do you know if radios get restored back with a nandroid too?!)

Thanks man.

Edit: the actual Version 4 of Guinness is running and everything is good so far. Haven't found an issue yet.

Yup. Jake changed core system files. I am 98% updated to 7.1. Only mod that will take longer is the blacked out Google Now. Check tomorrow for the update.

Guinness v5.0 is not posted in the OP. This is a transition release to get Guinness updated to 7.1+ for Jelly Belly. Two things are excluded for now. The audio patch I had included I am waiting to put back in until I can confirm with Jake whether its necessary. Jake increased the volume in 7.1 and I want to confirm with him whether thats system wide and how much louder he made it. The other item is Google Now. That was updates two weeks ago and I am still in the process of updating that app.

Enjoy.

Odd. Just tested it twice and don't have that issue. The script does delete those apps but replaces with the new ones. Try and fix permissions in recovery. I bet the apps are there.

Well I'm having the same issues as the other guy with the missing phone and contacts. I even did like you suggested and went into recovery to fix permissions and still didn't work. I guess I'll keep tinkering and see if I can figure something out.
