Welcome! First off, please bear in mind that I am NOT part of the AOKP Team. I am simply syncing with their github and compiling nightly builds. I do own a Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy Nexus and because I suffer from crack flashing (like many of us) I keep my eyes glued to the AOKP Gerrit and once a sizable amount of work has been merged I initialize the clean up/sync/build process! I figured since I was doing this for myself that I would share my builds. These builds are pure builds and include no cherry picks from other ROMs. Unicorn Porn in its purist form!

If you are interested in the latest Gerrit Pull requests (Also known as the Open section), the link is here:
http://gerrit.sudose...status:open,n,z

If you are interested in what was accepted by the AOKP Team, that link is here:
http://gerrit.sudose...atus:merged,n,z

When I post builds I will always include a Repo Sync Time (RST) and the corresponding Last Included Merge ID (LIMI).. Therefore, by viewing the merged link (2nd link above), you should be able to accurately determine what has changed since the prior build!

  • It is in your best interest to have the latest version of either ClockworkMod Recovery or Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) before you deal with update scripts!
  • Backup your current ROM
    • Since we are dealing with nightlies, it is always good practice to keep a working backup in case the build is a lemon or something included causes your phone to crash or bootloop!
  • Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe (or Format) System
    • This is always recommended when flashing any ROM. Dirty Flashing is when one simply installs a ROM "on top" of a preinstalled ROM. This is normally in an effort to keep user/system settings so that individual does not need to set their phone up. I would recommend taking the extra time to wipe. Wiping each three times is a precaution I and many others use with the fear that the first two wipes may have left stray data in the partitions. (Cache is wiped when doing a Factory Reset and the Dalvik Cache is located in the cache partition. Therefore it is not necessary to separately wipe cache/dalvik cache)
  • Install your choice of Nightly (ROM)
  • Install your choice of Gapps (Recommend Gapps: 11/30/2012 from goo.im)
  • Optional: Install a kernel (such as faux123's GN-LTE Kernel, imoseyon's leanKernel, or franciscofranco's franco.Kernel)

If you are interested in viewing the source code to AOKP, you may do so by viewing the team's github. This is made possible by the open-sourceness :P of Android and the project!

After a fresh install with everything wiped and permissions fixed, I still have a consistent problem: Bluetooth streaming to my car via Google Play invariably causes AOKP to crash after approximately 3 minutes of streaming. Can someone please try to duplicate this? I'm not sure if its an AOKP problem or a Google Play problem. By "bluetooth streaming" I mean playing a song stored in the Cloud, not stored locally on your phone.

Thanks for this! I just wanted to recommend that the recommended gapps be Formula84's (custom or not) because they are the only ones that are from the latest source 4.1.1

http://rootzwiki.com...package-081112/

the 7/26 have numerous issues other than not being latest. like googlebackuptransport (for auto-restore) not working and also picasa sync not working. people use them, but there is better out there. whoever maintain's the CM gapps (which are what people tend to recommend) needs a little help methinks.

His 8/3 package removed power button shutter in the camera app, does the new one change that?

it doesn't remove power button shutter in the camera app. it removes the gallery2.apk which is was the AOKP devs are modding as opposed to the official google version which is gallerygoogle.apk (this is the one that has picasa sync). if you don't want picasa sync and you want the aokp modded camera in gallery2.apk, then that's the one you need to keep.

he said that he is making a version that will keep the aokp gallery2.apk file instead of the google file. if you want, you can do it on your own super fast. i've explained it bunch of times. basically, you open the gapps zip, open the updater-script file in notepad (best thing is notepad++ using UNIX EOL which can be found in the Edit menu), and just delete the part that says "/system/app/gallery2.apk" inside the delete command. then save it, drop it back into the gapps zip to over write the one there, and flash it.

Meh, 7/26 is fine for me, I'll get the updated official apps when they update them in the store. I like the power shutter and sync works anyways for me. Must be more going on than you realize as far as that goes.
