This rom was ported from a gsm galaxy nexus running jelly bean. It includes only those fixes required to work as intended. There are no altered themes, no tweak scripts, no replaced kernels, just the stock experience Google intended.
Thanks to b16 for providing the nandroid off his GSM Galaxy Nexus for all of us to use.
Note: This is the same rom I've been working on for the past few days that I had posted in AshG's thread over here. Just decided to create my own thread for it here.
fixed gps (discovered that gsm vendor lib files were being used. replaced with cdma)
updated all google apps to most current
updated Superuser app and su binary
Version 2.5
updated market app to 3.7.13
updated maps app to 6.9.0
reverted kernel to completely stock version
several minor fixes
Version 2
MMS fix (The mms apk was not configured properly for verizon due to the jelly bean rom coming from a GSM phone. It was causing pictures to be overly compressed and look like crap. Also, videos received via mms would not play).
Fixed bluetooth range and quality.
Version 1
WiFi fix
slow GPS lock fix
moved misplaced lib files
fixed no ringtone or notification sound by default
fixed updater script to actually format system
fixed ERI text to say Verizon Wireless
Installation:
Boot into Recovery
Wipe Data / Factory Reset (if coming from previous version you should be fine with a wipe cache and dalvik-cache)
Install .zip
Reboot
Enjoy
IMPORTANT NOTE: Jelly Bean roms on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus are experiencing a random boot issues where you get stuck on the Google boot logo. If this happens to you just wait. After a few minutes it will boot up fine. This can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 10 minutes.
This thing runs like a champ on my VZW Gnex. Just need to get VerizonSSO.apk to work. I'm tempted to believe it's a build.prop issue as to why it can't make a network connection. Going to see if I can get to the bottom of this. If I can get the Verizon Single Signon to work, I can use My Verizon and NFL Mobile...then I'll be a very happy camper.
Nice for it to have it's own thread! I sure hope that my 4G issues/data drops stop after the cause is found. It's literally the only flaw in this ROM for me. I guess I'll just have to wait for source to drop most likely.
I am not having data issues with this rom, for what it's worth. My battery drain is disgustingly fast, though. If my screen is on, the battery drops like a bad habit. In fact, it drops about 9-10% for every 5 minutes I surf the web. That cannot be right... Anyone else having this issue?
AshG put jdk's rom in that thread. So, i moved out and set up shop in this new thread . lol. completely seperate.
i figured it would have been a lot more confusing with 2 different roms in one thread, so i started this one.
Cool - hopefully battery life improves since it appears the kernel was reverted fully to stock in 2.5. I do NOT want to use someone else's rom, as this one is just plain sick and the fastest of any of the four I've tried. Here's to hoping battery life improves so I can stick around.
Downloading now, have tried all the others on here and none really seemed to work all that great, usually had some issues with certain apps (unable to scroll) or just FC all the time. Hope this one is much better
I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just trying to state my position on discussions of battery life. Tone of voice and posture aren't communicated well via this medium
I just flashed Razor's Jelly 2.5 and so far it is great! Snappy GPS lock, Latitude works well (even though I had already updated maps, thanks for including it!). I'm very happy to be on this early JB ROM. Kudos and many thanks to razorloves!
Just flashed 2.5 and I'm loving this, no issues at all. I've been using other Jelly Bean ROMs and hated how they progressively added more and more customizations. I'm loving this stock Jelly Bean experience and hoping this ROM stay like this.
I'd wipe just in case. Even with incremental upgrades. Weeds out any potential issues. One thing I am making more of a habit is using Titanium Backup to save all user data/apps. That way I just do a one click and everything is restored no problems. (One click works for only the paid version, iirc)
Go to CWM Recovery (Hold down power and Vol +/- at same time). Press Vol+ twice and hit power button to go to 'Recovery'
Thanks man, love only having to flash 1 rom with all fixes in it, BUT I came from JellyBelly rom, and he fixed the booting issue.. That was nice not having to worry about booting. So is there a way I could mod mine to fix boot?
Just wiped VanirBean and flashed this. No issues with long boot times at all. Not even after a cold boot. Actually very fast boot times. Great job!
