MODEM COLLECTION
AKA BASEBAND

Ok boys and girls. I figured since we now have two modems to choose from this thread would come in handy. I will update it with new modems as new builds/leaks come out. Please read all of the information provided so you are sure not to freak out and fudge up your phone.

Things You Need to Know
1. These can ONLY be flashed through Odin. Deal with it. It's very very VERY simple to do.
2. It takes 3-5 minutes for these to flash.
3. Odin hangs for a bit after flashing each of the two contained files. ITS NORMAL. BE EFFING PATIENT.
4. DO NOT RENAME THE FILES! AKA LEAVE THE .MD5 EXTENSION ON THEM. ITS FINE!

How to Flash
1. First download Odin 1.85 HERE
2. Download modem of your choosing below.
3. Boot your phone into download mode using any of the following methods
a. Remove battery. Plug connect phone to usb/computer. Hold vol up + vol down and reinsert battery. Wait roughly 5 seconds.
b. Use adb and type the following command "adb reboot download"
c. If you are on a custom rom like Juggernaut just use the Power Menu to boot into download mode
4. Once you are in download mode and you see the yellow com box light up in Odin you are good to go (It will also say Added! in the message box).
5. Now place the modem you downloaded into the PDA slot in Odin. ONLY THE PDA SLOT.
6. Once loaded into the PDA slot, click START.
7. I can't stress this next step enough. BE PATIENT!!!
8. After roughly 3-5 minutes your phone will reboot with your modem installed.
9. Give yourself a pat on the back. You were able to read and follow the instructions... Kudos!

Modems

T989UVKL1 - build date 12/14/2011

T989UVKID - build date 9/26/2011

Enjoy Everyone!
Thanks to Samsung and Sampro.pl!

i so hope i get to steps 8 & 9! it's been "hanging" for about 30 minutes. i'm going to work on the bold part of step 7 and report back if anything new happens.

the only reason i'm posting is because i'm doing this in a VM (Mac host). i only have 1 GB of ram and 1 proc dedicated to this particular VM so i'm hoping that's what's causing the delay.

*****UPDATE********

i got sick of waiting so i rebooted. maybe not the smartest thing but i did it anyway. i got an error about firmware install failure so i basically did the odin flash a few more times until it "took". it rebooted and now, as expected, my baseband reads T989UVKL1

I've searched here and other places but can't seem to find a clear answer. if i missed it my bad.
Do i need to revert back to stock recovery and stock rom then flash this KL1 modem??
I followed your instructions and did it over Juggernaut and Beastmod (the 2.3.5 versions), the baseband reads as T989UVKL1 now.
i turned off the data and had only wifi on and made calls.
just want to make sure this is ok. and if i can just flash juggernaut 4.0 now.
Did i actually update the baseband and enable wifi calling? or am i missing something here?
Thanks.

What am I missing during the setup process. I have the new modem downloaded, have odin 1.85 downloaded, juggz 4.0 rebooted into dl mode, but odin rappidly opens and closes, same issue after wiping everything from system to cache. I also ran into the same issue with both my xp and win 7 laptops. Have tried using multiple usb cables from samsung, htc, etc. have tried all usb ports on both laptops, I have the phone plugged in then hit reboot into dl mode from power options. after reboot i attempt to open odin when the open/close happens. I have also attempted to open odin prior to plugging in usb, I have also tried wih usb debuging on and off. What the freak am I missing? Ive even manually entered dl mode by using the battery pull method, to no avail. How were you guys successful, what am I doing differently?

Note: Just tried Kies and even that works just fine with regards to recognizing my t989, in fact I can even asscess contacts, photos, music etc. while in kies.

SOLVED: Ok so the issue was when downloading the odin files only the .exe showed on my pc. After downloading from a different source a config settings file was also included. It seems that lacking the config settings file is what was causing the odin restart issues. After getting that config file the process was truly 3 minutes max.

Whitehawx,

You get enough noobs whining and complaining with ignorance. I thought you should know that TEAM KANG's work in the SGS2 community has been the only worth mentioning thusfar (minus the miui effort) IMO and the opinion of sooo many others. You guys are well ahead of the curve and so many of us appreciate TEAM KANG for the development. If you were on this side of the country drinks would be on me for your team. I apologize for all the idiot vultures that understandably made you need a hiatus. I used to theme blackberry and had the exact same experience. Regardless of the vultures, many of us thank you and will welcome you back when you have finished your break from the stupidity and insurance fraud drama queens

Now back on topic and for the people who are wondering about the new modem......

my experience with it for 48 hours........

i didnt see anything truthfully different or better from having it MINUS wi-fi locked on super quick like a bunny.

Battery life was considerably worse. Internet speeds werent any better. Speedtest actually performed worse.

none of this is TEAM KANG's doing and THERE IS NO FIX

this is samsungs firmware issue

it is what it is....deal with it. i flashed back the old modem

---my two cents

ps......i dont understand people having issues with odin. The instructions were plain and worked perfectly twice. thank you again TEAM KANG

Same results here, as on the old modem i was consistently getting 14-18Mbps download speeds (per speedtest app). ON the new modem, It dropped between 7 and 10Mpbs. I noticed my media downloads were slower and netflix quality was worse.

I went back to the old modem. and its all back to normal.
