Verizon Summer/Fall Smartphone Roadmap Leaked (including the SGS3) (UPDATE: US SGS3 to get Snapdragon S4 instead?)

What Phones Will Be Released?

According to Boy Genius Report, the following phones are slated for Summer/Fall release (my comments in parentheses):

  • The Samsung Galaxy S3 (that’s right – Verizon will not pass up the Samsung flagship this year as they did in favor of the Galaxy Nexus in 2011)
  • The rumored Droid RAZR HD – aka the Droid Fighter, one of “‘multiple’ Motorola RAZR phones due to hit Verizon in the coming months” (Again? Really? Why flood the market with multiple Droids again? Do you actually encourage buyer’s remorse, Verizon?)
  • An HTC flagship device slated for a Fall release (this one might be worth the wait for you HTC fans)

According to other sources, these will be joined by the following phones:

  • The Samsung Galaxy Journal (Verizon’s equivalent to the Galaxy Note)
  • The Droid Incredible 4G (Droid Incredible stalwarts can finally enjoy 4G LTE – HTC fans overall might want to wait for the HTC flagship phone mentioned by BGR)

Worth the Wait?

Those of you currently eligible for an upgrade could snag the high-end LG Lucid, the Motorola Droid RAZR/RAZR MAXX, the HTC Rezound, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, or the imminent Droid Incredible 4G. If you want to hold on to that upgrade, or are eligible for one later this year, you can look forward to the following (likely) specs for upcoming phones:

  • Quad-core Exynos CPU (confirmed for international release – UPDATE: according to MobileSyrup, the US version might come with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 to ensure LTE compatibility – a major disappointment, if true)
  • 4.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display (How many other buzzwords can we surround “AMOLED” with?)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 32 GB storage
  • 8-12 MP rear camera / 2 MP front-facing camera

  • 1.5GHz Dual-core processor
  • 5.3″ WXGA 1280 x 800 HD Super AMOLED display
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP camera / 2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • Android 2.3 (Really? Gingerbread in Summer 2012? Why not just go with Cupcake?)

  • 4.3 inch 720p Super AMOLED HD screen (welcome to the HD party, Motorola – Samsung and HTC have been waiting for you)
  • Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU
  • 12 or 13MP camera
  • 3300mAh battery, as seen in the RAZR MAXX

HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 4G (These underwhelming specs scream to HTC fans, “Wait ’til Fall! Wait ’til Fall!”)

  • 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear camera
  • HTC Sense 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

UNTITLED HTC FLAGSHIP (This Galaxy Note killer is what HTC fans should wait for, IF this rumor turns out to be true)

  • 5-inch 1080p HD display
  • Quad-core Krait CPU
  • Adreno 320 GPU
  • HTC Sense 5
  • Galaxy Note-style stylus
