Nokia announced their “new” mapping service last November. Their mapping service was named HERE, and it would allow for people to get places easily using traffic maps, transit schedules and real-time weather. So far the application has only been available for Nokia phones, but Nokia also announced they would be bringing an app to Android, starting with Samsung devices.
Although the application is only supposed to be for Samsung devices, somebody leaked the apk file the other day. The version that was leaked was the beta but have no fear, it works on non-Samsung devices as well. According to Android Police, the beta apk allows users to use turn-by-turn navigation, a satellite map and the very handy ability to cache maps of entire cities. Of course, caching maps will use up a not-insignificant amount of space on your device, so be aware of that.
To make full use of HERE, you’ll need to sign up on Nokia’s HERE site or link your Facebook page if you have one. Check out the apk, erm, here. To learn more about Nokia’s HERE, check out their official website.
