Jacek Malinowski (aka. Yackovsky) has graced our devices with numerous icon packs and CM11 themes, and now he’s back for his biggest one yet, Mono. Mono is technically one theme, but comes in a multi-colored pack. Let’s dive into the latest that’s come from Yackovsky.
The style of Mono is a dark theme that highlights one color out of 5 at a time, the colors provided: Pinkaliscious, Sky Blue, Limelight, Tangly Orange, and Ultraviolet. Each of these colors is themed throughout the ROM. The battery icon, the quick toggles, the toggles in settings, and more are highlighted with one of those colors.
You’ll also notice changes of icons in your navbar, system bar and settings as well. Most of the icons resemeble an empty shell when ‘turned off’ and when you toggle them on (wifi for instance) the color fills the icon’s shell. Your navigation bar also changes from normal ‘home’, ‘back’ and ‘recents’ icons to circles with notches to help differentiate between them.
Maybe unfortunately, but Mono does not come with a paired icon pack but, Jacek has done a good thing by theming some apps such as (my personal faves) Google Play Music, Instagram, and Hangouts. In them, some buttons are are changed to the ‘empty shell’ type of icons — as seen with Play Music’s play/pause button, Instagram’s category buttons, and Hangout’s settings button.
Jacek has included his font into the them that I personally use with all my CM themes, which looks just like Roboto Light (maybe Condensed but I’m not too sure about that aspect). The font is very thin and tall compare to the default font that you’ll find within a CM ROM.
The wallpapers included again highlight the overall theme that Jacek is aiming for with Mono, a dark backdrop combined with a highlighted colored. The wallpapers, although minimal, seem to have a very detailed background.
Lastly, the boot animation copies the same style as the new loading logo which is a small rotating oval in the color of whatever highlight you choose. It’s also not a perfect oval too, think shredded.
Anyways, the best way to check out this theme is to try it out yourself. Mono (Collection) is currently now available in the Play Store after being a beta only product for a while. The theme is a (hefty) $4 but when you think about the fact that you get 5 separate themes in one, then it’s much better to swallow. Go check out Mono in the Play Store and show us what you come up with.
