If you don’t know what Okterberfest is then you’re probably not a heavy beer drinker or you’re not a Bavarian culture buff — it’s ok, I’m more for liquor myself. Basically Oktoberfest is a two-week long, giant funfair in Munich to celebrate their culture, where millions of visitors enjoy attractions, foods, and of course beer. While the main event is held in Germany, many cities around the world hold smaller events based on the funfair in Munich to celebrate as well. Google is going to help you enjoy those events a little more easily.
Google just recently put up ads around the ‘Net and on their social networks, mentioning Oktoberfest and the new list of related apps that will be featured on Google Play for the time being. Currently the list includes over 175 apps, both free and paid, that fall under a very loose algorithm dealing with Oktoberfest, beer, or just ‘international-ism’. Some of the first ones to note include the free apps: Oktoberfest.de, Oktoberfest Munich, and Wiesn 2013 – Oktoberfest 2013 (see “very loose algorithm” above).
The apps will show you when events are being held and where they are located, tapping and tanning times, and more. The apps will also help with pure Oktoberfest knowledge and may include quizzes and games. Be aware, with a huge list as such not all apps will be held to the same quality standard so look over any apps before downloading.
