I have been an Android fan since I first purchased an LG Ally. While not the most powerful Android, I quickly found out that by rooting and flashing custom ROMs and kernels, the LG Ally could be pushed to the limits and made to be the quick little phone it should always have been.

It was through the Ally community, that I started beta testing ROMS for Punisher/Frunisher ROM Development Team.

I am currently an HTC Thunderbolt owner.

Prior to joining the RootzWiki News Team, I worked as a Writer/Reviewer for AndroidActivist.org.

Swiftkey To Introduce Swiftkey Flow

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if Swype and SwiftKey hooked up and had a child? (I know I have too much time on my hands) Well wonder no more, because that child would probably look like SwiftKey Flow. SwiftKey is positioning Flow to up the stakes in the competitive aftermarket Android keyboard app race.

Let’s face it: Android’s AOSP keyboard has left a lot to be desired. So have the themed keyboards developed by HTC, Samsung, Motorola, etc. While the AOSP keyboard has improved over time and is much more useable in Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean (JB), many users choose to look elsewhere for their keystroke needs. SwiftKey has been one of my top choices as an aftermarket keyboard.

You can imagine my surprise and giddiness when I received an email yesterday from SwiftKey announcing the upcoming beta for SwiftKey Flow. According to the SwiftKey Team, they will be offering a chance for SwiftKey VIP members to enter a beta test to give their new product a try and to offer feedback. The VIP program is the typical venue that SwiftKey uses to beta test new or improved version of their popular keyboard.

We’re going to begin testing SwiftKey Flow right here with our VIPs over the next few weeks, so get excited and stay posted. We’ll send you an email when it’s available, but to see a video of it in action and register your interest to be among the first to get access, please visit: http://swiftkey.net/flow

SwiftKey has also released a short video which highlights how Flow performs:

The new iteration of SwiftKey allows users to type in a traditional fashion or move their finger across their screen in what appears to be a motion similar to Swype. This will allow users to have more than one option for typing on their Android Keyboard. SwiftKey Flow will also incorporate SwiftKey’s word prediction engine which increases a user’s speed when tying out messages and emails. At times, users can practically type entire messages and emails using SwiftKey’s predictive typing engine.

I know I am excited to try Flow and provide my feed back to SwiftKey. What are your thoughts? Is adding the Swype like feature a good or bad idea for SwiftKey? Please leave your feedback in the comments section below.
