CyanogenMod is now in the “stable” phase (10.0 Release), as the team looks to start working on CM 10.1 which will be based on Android 4.2. The reason the work stable is in quotes is because the team is still accepting bug report for future maintenance updates. While CM and their loyal users have had great luck with the nightly, RC and monthly or M-Series releases, nothing beats a stable release for those who like to park their phones on the major milestone builds.
The stable release includes all of the CM goodies which users love, including CM messaging and the new CM file manager. The stable version is great for users who need a relatively bug free version of the ROM to use as their daily driver.
The CM team has released “stable” version of their ROM for the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy S III (vzw)
Samsung Galaxy S III (Sprint)
Samsung Galaxy S III (M. PCS)
Samsung Galaxy S III (AT&T)
Samsung Galaxy S III (US Cell)
Samsung Galaxy S III (TMUS)

Samsung Galaxy S2 ATT LTE
Samsung Galaxy S2 T-Mobile
Samsung Galaxy S 2 (G)

I have been using the “stable” CM 10 ROM on my Galaxy Nexus since yesterday and have found it to work excellent. I tend to use stable ROMs due to the fact that I use my Android smartphone for work. I would recommend giving the “stable” version of the CM 10 a try while the CM team works on the next version of CM.
So what happens now?
The CM team is working on CM 10.1 which will be developed using the Android 4.2 source code. Since Android 4.2 is not a major release and is still considered a Jelly Bean build, the CM team has indicated that they will not identify their next ROM as CM 11. The CM 11 designation will probably be saved for the Android 5.0 OS, which is widely expected to come out next year. The CM team is always on top of all of the current builds and push out nightly versions on their ROMs to keep CM fans happy.
So what do you think? Have you given CM 10 a try and are you happy with the “stable” version? Are you looking forward to CM 10.1?
