Max Moss
Max took the dive into the Android scene back when he exchanged his Motorola Razr for an OG Droid back in 2010. From there, he started avidly keeping up with all of the latest Android news and development. However, it wasn't until later that year when he got a Droid X that he really started to get into the ROMing scene. His first ROM, FlyX by Birdman, still holds a special place in his heart.

Last year, he started his own Android blog, Android Allies. This went well for a while, but now Android Allies is inactive and Max devotes his Android writing to good ol' RootzWiki. Now, with Galaxy Nexus in pocket and Nexus 7 in hand, he strives to bring all the newest ROM news straight to the readers.

AOKP Releases Their First Jelly Bean Milestone, Halts 4.1 Builds

Last week, we saw AOKP drop their fifth installment of their Jelly Bean based ROM. Now, they have released their very first milestone that includes some pretty cool features. What's the difference between a build and a milestone, you ask? An AOKP Milestone is built less often and focuses on bug fixes. This makes it great for the more casual ROM flasher who doesn't want to flash a new build every week (or every night like some flashaholics do). The team has stated that this will be the last update until 4.2 is released, so it's a great time to get your kang on!

The AOKP team has added some new features into their ROM. The changelog is as follows:

  • Adjustable NavBar width for Tablets
  • Allow "Vibrate on Touch" behavior for Slide unlock
  • Toggles can be hidden like in ICS - long press on the Settings button!
  • Clickable (short & long configurable) Clock and Calendar in the Notification Slider

Like I said, this release had much more of a focus on bug fixes. The team has stated that they have managed to fix many of the bugs that were posted in the bug tracker forum or on Twitter. They have also added AT&T HTC One X/XL back into the mix. Here is a complete list of the current supported devices and their Rootz threads if they have them: Threads will be updated by their maintainers as the builds are spit out or when they have time. If the Milestone link isn't there for you yet, it's either waiting to appear, the maintainer hasn't had a chance to update it yet, or it will be available on the Milestone 1 release page at AOKP.co.

As always, take the time to wipe your phone. It is a must if you are coming from another ROM or an Ice Cream Sandwich AOKP build, and highly suggested if you are coming from an AOKP Jelly Bean build. If you don't wipe, don't expect everything to work correctly!

So fire up your Kangerator app (or grab the build here), flash the new Milestone, and drop us a comment telling us how it is!

Shout out to Josh for the device list and additional info.
