AOKP merged for the Xperia Z and ZL, official nightlies should begin Saturday

in ROMs
AOKP, the popular ROM for women and for men who are secure enough in their manhood to use a ROM with pink unicorns in it, has merged the necessary code to support Sony's Xperia Z and ZL flagships into its github. This means official nightly support begins with the next automatically-built nightly, scheduled for tomorrow. Of course, if you don't want to wait until then and wish to build it for yourself, you might be interested to know that the official guide to building AOKP was also recently updated.

Cid has found a pair of new friends on the DNA, as unofficial alpha builds of AOKP and PAC have now joined CyanogenMod 10.1's unofficial alpha build on HTC's latest and greatest Verizon phone. While some key functions on the phone are still being worked on, you can test these builds with functional phone, radios, GPS, WiFi and mostly functional audio. The ROMs are based on the unofficial CyanogenMod device tree currently being developed.

CyanogenMod 10.1 release candidates are rolling out for supported devices

The Cyanogenmod team hasn't used the term "release candidate" since the Ice Cream Sandwich days of CM9, but today the team has seen fit to use it to label the latest build that has begun rolling out to supported devices. This might be the last milestone release before the 10.1.x builds start rolling out, according to the team's blog post.

Sony Xperia Z & ZL Receive CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies
Apr 15 2013 05:20 PM |
androiduser2008
in ROMs
Sony has had my attention since they announced the Xperia Z. I am still intrigued even after having read many negative reviews. As much as I love Xperia Z's design, the software was a cause of concern even though the skin is not that heavy. To allay my concerns, though, today CyanogenMod has released CM 10.1 nightlies for the Xperia Z & the Xperia ZL. CyanogenMod support is almost always a harbinger of good things to come from the development community. It not only is the most popular custom ROM, but most other popular AOSP-based ROMs run on CM's device tree.

BAMF Paradigm 3.1 - A Screenshot Tour

As many of you already know, the long-awaited Android 4.2.2 update to BAMF Paradigm arrived late Tuesday night as BAMF Paradigm 3.1. Since BAMF Paradigm is one of my personal favorites, I took the liberty of providing you with a screenshot tour. This ROM is unlike the scores of CyanogenMod/AOKP/Paranoid Android clones, hybrid ROMs and stock-plus ROMs in that there are a significant number of features, nearly all of them originally coded by Team BAMF members (in other words, very few cherry-picks).

Cid says "hi" to the Droid DNA - unofficial CM10 build has (mostly) working RIL
Feb 26 2013 09:00 PM |
skynet11
in ROMs
RootzWiki member drewX2 has managed to port a booting build of CyanogenMod 10 to the Droid DNA, in which one of the biggest hurdles has been cleared - it now has working Internet access (though only on 3G/4G). Calls can be made and received but sound isn't yet working (though the OP told me that text and MMS work), but this is still a huge step forward. Now that drewX2 has working radio for the DNA, a fully functional CM build could drop at any time.

Facepalm gives you S-Off for the Droid DNA, One XL and One S
Feb 19 2013 02:25 PM |

One of the biggest rites of passage for an HTC device in the development community (aside from the obvious bootloader unlock/root/recovery/ROM/kernel common to all devices) is S-Off, which basically means full read/write access to the system, recovery and bootloader partitions. The Droid DNA, the One XL, and the One S have now reached this stage, thanks to the work of several XDA/RootzWiki members.

Exclusive: HTC says "keep the RUUs, just give us the domain name"
Feb 02 2013 02:00 AM |

The third chapter in the HTC RUU trilogy has finally been brought to a close. James Taylor, founder of the HTCRUU.com repository of HTC ROM Update Utilities just recently let me know that HTC is no longer demanding that his files be taken down. Instead, any RUUs released for production models and custom ROMs can continue to be hosted at ruu.androidfiles.org. All HTC requires is that no test versions of its RUUs be posted, its trademarks be respected and that a disclaimer be posted stating that the site is not officially endorsed by or affiliated with HTC.

JMZ Software, owner of the site HTCRUU.com, was allegedly ordered by lawyers representing HTC to take down its repository of Sense-based ROMs yesterday, in what might be a bit of overkill by overly zealous lawyers, or could be the opening salvo of a global crackdown on distribution of Sense ROMs.

Back in September, the CyanogenMod team started doing a monthly release of their current progress that was more stable than the nightlies they released. They called these builds "M-Series." The team stopped doing this builds when 4.2 was released to focus on getting all of their features back into the newly released code. Now, the team has decided to start the M-Series back up and has released their first M-Series build of CM 10.1.
