Instagram for Android Gets Native Tablet Support Before iOS

Now that everyone in the Android community has access to Instagram, we had an idea it would only be a matter of time before tablet versions began appearing. What we didn't expect was that the first native tablet version would be for Android rather than for the iPad series. Enter more iUser angst in 3... 2... 1...

It's not just tablets that are receiving some additional support, although they're definitely a major component of the Android platform. WiFi-only devices also received Instagram support, bringing Android handheld device support in line with the iPhone/iPod Touch. From the Play Store:

• Open up support to Tablets and WiFi handsets
• Allow app installation on SD card
• Fix audio mute bug during capture
• Several small bug fixes and improvements
- Instagram "What's New"

This is sure to spark a second wave of Twitter-based outrage, as a large contingent of iUsers have spent the past several days complaining openly about how Instagram for Android has devalued the application and opened the Instagram community to the "second class citizens" of the Android world.

iOS derision or not, there are some questions that must be asked in light of this release. While tablets make great photo editing platforms (compared to phones), are they necessarily the best platform for taking pictures with apps like Instagram? Do you plan on taking more photos with your tablet now? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
