I have been an Android fan since I first purchased an LG Ally. While not the most powerful Android, I quickly found out that by rooting and flashing custom ROMs and kernels, the LG Ally could be pushed to the limits and made to be the quick little phone it should always have been.

It was through the Ally community, that I started beta testing ROMS for Punisher/Frunisher ROM Development Team.

I am currently an HTC Thunderbolt owner.

Prior to joining the RootzWiki News Team, I worked as a Writer/Reviewer for AndroidActivist.org.

Huawei myTouch and myTouch Q to debut on T-Mobile on August 8th

T-Mobile recently announced that they will offer the Huawei myTouch and myTouch Q on August 8, 2012. The two Android smartphones are latest devices in T-Mobile’s myTouch family of mobile devices. Both the myTouch and the myTouch Q will run on T-Mobile’s 4G network.

“T-Mobile is committed to delivering a strong and diverse portfolio of 4G handsets that runs on our fast and dependable 4G network, including smartphones that enable people to get amazing 4G experiences at a great value. The value and ease of use that the myTouch devices deliver, paired with our worry-free rate plans, means it is easier than ever for customers to get everything they want in a smartphone without the expense for features they won’t use.”
- Brad Duea, senior vice president of product management, T-Mobile USA

The new T-Mobile myTouches will be available with Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread) and include a 1.4 GHz processor. Unfortunately for consumers the phones are not shipping with Android 4.x (Ice Cream Sandwich). The devices will feature a dedicated camera button for easy access to the smartphone’s 5-megapixel camera. Both devices will also include a front-facing camera for video chat via T-Mobile’s 4G network. Another nice feature will be the redesigned camera user interface, which will allow for quick access to the camera’s key features.

According to T-Mobile’s press release, both Huawei smartphones will also included the following features:

Voice Control Made Better: To make the process of learning and using a smartphone’s best features quicker and easier, both devices are equipped with the next-generation Genius Button 4.0, powered by Dragon from Nuance, providing customers with a powerful voice-controlled service. With Genius Button 4.0 customers have access to the new Genius Web Search, featuring new voice-command capabilities such as direct search among multiple sources, direct app launch, and even the ability to make dinner reservations.

Simple Setup: The new myTouch devices feature an onboarding experience that allows users to set up what’s important without having to deal with extra steps, including a simple login process, a tips widget and tutorials for the most-used features of Android.

Enhanced App Drawer: A redesigned app drawer gives customers quick access to recently used apps, a separate tab for all downloaded apps, and an easy way to search their app collections by text or even by voice.

The main difference between the myTouch and the myTouch Q is the Q has full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
