Samsung is putting their new Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone design to work. Rumors suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Note 2 will look similar and now you have a leak that shows the New Galaxy Player with the similar design. Like many say: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The Samsung YP-GP1 specs include a massive 5.8" qHD (540 x 960) TFT LCD screen running on a 1GHz dual-core processor. It will have Android 4.0.4 (ICS) with TouchWiz under the hood but seems to be in prime position to receive a Jelly Bean update. The Galaxy Player also includes 1GB RAM, 3MP rear camera, VGA front facing camera, 2500mAh battery, and micro-SD slot. When the Galaxy Player is finally announced it is set to be released in Black or White.
Many are knocking the use of a 1GHz processor while there are significantly better CPUs on the market. Do remember that this is a media player and not a smartphone. This is probably one corner Samsung is cutting to keep the price low. There is still no detail on retail price or when this device is ready to be shipped but announcement is rumored for September. If that is the case, we might see the device by this holiday season.
