I have been an Android fan since I first purchased an LG Ally. While not the most powerful Android, I quickly found out that by rooting and flashing custom ROMs and kernels, the LG Ally could be pushed to the limits and made to be the quick little phone it should always have been.

It was through the Ally community, that I started beta testing ROMS for Punisher/Frunisher ROM Development Team.

I am currently an HTC Thunderbolt owner.

Prior to joining the RootzWiki News Team, I worked as a Writer/Reviewer for AndroidActivist.org.

LG Reaches Smartphone Milestone by Selling 5 Million LTE Smartphones Worldwide

Korean electronics giant LG hit another milestone in July, as the company has sold 5 million LTE smartphones worldwide. What makes this achievement even more special: the company hit 4 million smartphones sold in June and added the additional million smartphones in the month of July. LG is clearly working hard to be the leader in LTE martphones.

The LG Revolution was the company’s first foray into the United States' LTE smartphone market place. The Revolution was released on Verizon Wireless in May of last year. The Revolution was Verizon’s third LTE capable smartphone following the HTC Thunderbolt and the Samsung Droid Charge.

LG has a total of ten LTE smartphones available in Korea, the United States, Japan and select markets in Europe and Asia; selection varies by market.

Sales of global LTE smartphones are expected to increase ten-fold this year from last year. With that in mind, we are planning to introduce an even more impressive LTE line-up in the next several months second to none.

With two million sales, the Optimus LTE is LG’s most popular LTE smartphone. In May, LG released the industry’s first 2GB RAM LTE smartphone - the Optimus LTE II. LG saw quickly increasing sales with the Optimus LTE II, as this device sold half a million units in its first 70 days. The smartphone to watch is the Optimus Vu, which has sold over 500,000 units since March. LG is currently preparing for the Optimus Vu’s global roll-out. The LG Optimus Vu should be available on Verizon Wireless in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to both Jefferies and Company and TechIPM, LG holds the most LTE patents in the United States and worldwide.
