Carbon for Android's Twitter account on Sunday afternoon blasted that they had pushed the application to the Google Play Store. Sure enough, the talk was over and finally the actual application has been released. For those still in the Twittersphere, rejoice, we have a new and free Twitter client for our devices. I am positive the devs working on Carbon are very excited to see this application finally reach fruition.
My first impression of this classic Web OS application is the sleek, dark interface. I do enjoy the smoothness as the application scrolls, the embedded pictures, and the multiple account access. It lacks a lot of power features such as notification update times, alternate themes, picture hosting, retweeting options, URL shortening and so on. It could also use a ton of Holo integration, but the swiping UI seems to make that an acceptable omission. Otherwise, this is a smooth collaboration with the dots & lines team and hopefully they will continue to support and expand the application.
The app is free in the Google Play Store, but I'm hoping over time and with Google's help, the developers will be able to sell a paid version in the Play Store. I highly recommend downloading this application especially for casual Twitter users. Over time this app will continue to improve and may become a powerhouse among others in the Twitter for Android ecosystem.
