[EVENT] The 8 Weeks Of Ice Cream

We have been itching for a certain phone to come out some time this year but we are anticipating so much with the late release of Ice Cream Source form the Android Open Source Project by Google this month, we decided to crank it up a notch and start this contests, with this week being the first of eight, here we go.

As I write this, I have an ache and pain on each cheek from smiling too much, we are getting ready for a change in Android, a change in development and a change in community. Its more than time to finally open doors and get the hype started, so lets start with 8 WEEKS OF ICE CREAM.

The contest will start on the week ending November 26th 2011, and we have changed the announcement for winners to be on a Saturday. The goal here is to get as many devices out as possible, if not get them out assist our users in getting the device. So why do we push the device so hard? Because this is an open and unlockable device, in much hopes of it landing on multiple carriers, both in the U.S. and international.

Contests:The following are the rules and details. Each week for eight weeks we will hold a week long contest to promote the development and demand of Ice Cream and Android. Here are the rules:
  • You must be a registered member to receive a device, if you have not registered click here.
  • If you are a Developer or Themer, but don't have a Developer or Themer Badge on Rootzwiki, you must fill this form out prior to any week of a give away. Please select, in the drop down, which title you are applying for. You should hear back within 48 hours.
  • Must not have any infractions or outstanding warn status.
There are 3 classes of eligible contestants: Developers, Themers and Users. Our intentions are to make this a friendly competition among each class. Here are some helpful pointers for each group. We cannot tell you what the contests will consist of, but we can give you some advice.
  • Users - Just go register and enjoy yourself. Make sure to be active in the community! Make sure to share this on Facebook and/or Tweet: " @RootzWiki - 8 WEEKS OF ICE CREAM. - http://bit.ly/tZxGKi"
  • Developers - We will be judging by quality and effort. Kernels, ROMs, Mods and hacks are all welcome. On the weeks announced for a Developer to win a device, he or she must have work released and supported on RootzWiki, this is to ensure the users and Developers are active and communicating. Skill is expected, this will be tough for competition. Remember to remain respectful of each others work. Make sure to read the rules at the bottom for receiving a Device from RootzWiki. Each contest by nature will be different, so be prepared.
  • Themers - Theming is a vast concept, but we will judge by activity in threads as well as download counts using the modification system. Contests have yet to be announced, be sure to have Themes posted before contest starts. This is an open forum, so we do not feel exclusivity is relevant in Android development and growth, feel free to share your work wherever possible i.e. XDA-Developers.com, AndroidCentral.com, etc. Our door is always open.
Claiming a Device - There will be three ways to claim your Android Device, of course all is depending on your carrier of choice.

1. In the case the winner would like an upgrade paid in full from RootzWiki instead of a full retail purchase, we will send the user a shirt of choice in color and size and let them pick another person for us to upgrade their line. Sharing is caring and we like to see motivated users!

2. International contestants - We will spend up to $649 U.S. Dollars for you to receive a device, we haven't forgot about you guys. This goes for all three groups above.

* Contestants must be at least 15 years old with consent of a parent to participate in this event, we take privacy very serious.

* Devices sent from us will have a RootzWiki logo laser etched on the back of the device for the simple reason, we like things unique.

*** DISCLAIMER *** Anyone who has previously won a contest and provided a phone from RootzWiki within the past 9 months will be unable to receive another phone from RootzWiki until the 9 month mark hits; which you agreed to when you signed up to be a developer. This is to make it fair for everyone.

Have fun and enjoy, this event is going to be a fun one.
