Dropbox Preview For Android - Not So Sneak Peak

Many of us received an interesting email from Dropbox earlier Thursday evening. It was an invite to preview their next version which has a few overdue enhancements. With some recent purchases lately and these updates, I have a feeling they are attempting to put themselves in a position of dominance over other cloud storage solutions. Here is that list of improvements to their Android app:
  • Effortlessly share several of your beautiful photos at once,
  • Organize your favorite photos into albums. You can share them too!
  • Delete multiple photos at once
  • UI improvements and updates throughout
  • Lots of other little tweaks and bug fixes

With a few hands on minutes with the application this evening, I noticed a picture icon at the top of the main page. From there it loaded my uploaded picture gallery, and with a long press I was able to select multiple items and then either create an album, share them to just about any other application on my device, or delete those items from Dropbox. I selected GMail and it quickly sent me a link to that photo album. With that adjustment, that clunky feeling that I usually get when trying to get items out of Dropbox and either onto my device or shared has gone away. Overall the app feels a little smoother and the appearance is crisper from when I was last using Dropbox regularly.

In short, sharing is the driving theme of this latest update and I think they are on the right track.

In addition to the updates, in the settings now, users can select to try out these updates without waiting to hear from them via email. When I ran the update, it turned on the option to automatically install early releases. I'm a constant beta tester, so naturally I'm keeping that option on to see the new enhancements that come down the pike from Dropbox.

This update will surely push out soon. I have seen few flaws if any at all while trying out the new version. The link direct to the new apk is here (I'm just pasting it from my email). The brave are sure to want to try this update out. Please share your thoughts if you do in the comments. The full version is available below for consumption.
