Jeff McIntire
Jeff McIntire is an avid Android enthusiast whose first exposure to the world of Android, rooting, and customizing came in 2010 through the Samsung Captivate. Later that same year, he was introduced to the Verizon community through the Fascinate, which carried him from Eclair all the way to Ice Cream Sandwich. Having tried various ROMs, kernels and themes based on TouchWiz, he took the plunge into AOSP in May 2011 and never looked back. He now happily taps away at his Galaxy Nexus, always looking out for the latest and greatest, and helping others along the way.

Verizon Galaxy Note 2 pre-rooted Odin Package now available

Those of you who have the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 are no doubt familiar with the root method posted by my friend droidstyle over at XDA (famous for well-written guides for new Fascinate, Verizon Galaxy S III and now Verizon Galaxy Note 2 owners), but you might be clamoring for a way to achieve root with just one file. Now root can be achieved simply by flashing a pre-rooted Odin package posted by RootzWiki developer imnuts.

With the help of RootzWiki developer adrynalyne, imnuts managed to extract a stock system image and pre-root it. Flashing instructions are as follows:
  • Download either the stock image or the deodexed stock rooted image from the thread.
  • Extract the file (7zip works to extract).
  • Open Odin (download that elsewhere), and put the extracted tar.md5 in the PDA spot
  • (Re)Boot your phone into download mode and plug it in to your computer
  • With it recognized in Odin, press start
  • Once the phone boots up, all should be well. If you notice issues, boot into recovery and wipe data and this should fix the problems.
  • If you still have issues after wiping the /data and performing a factory reset, please post here.
As usual, neither RootzWiki nor imnuts or adrynalyne is responsible for any damages to your device. You flash this at your own risk.
