Alleged Nexus Tablet Image Surfaces

Every Android devotee's dream of a stock Android Tablet may be a reality this year with the rumored Nexus Tablet that we've been hearing so much about. The guys over at PocketNow have dug up a render that's being billed as a strong possibility for what that tablet is going to look like. The image, while it does look quite legit, also raises as many questions as it might answer. Let's take a look at the picture first.

Google-Tablet.jpg

The first thing that catches our eye is the Android Market. It's not labeled the Play Store, nor are the other Google apps Play apps. That probably speaks more to the age of this image than to anything else, though. We've been hearing that either ASUS or Samsung will be producing this tablet, with the money on ASUS due to the disappearance of the Memo tablet. However, the image looks decidedly Samsungesque in its build. You'll note, also, the proprietary connector port that's shown up on previous Samsung tablets, like the Galaxy Tab line. Though, one astute reader has pointed out that it's also similar to an ASUS keyboard docking port. You'll also note the lack of any third party apps in the render, which is a good indicator of a stock experience.

Little else is actually known about the device, though speculation is that there may be more than one of them coming down from on high. Perhaps we're looking at a Samsung version here, while the ASUS model has yet to be revealed? Maybe it's totally phony, and we're looking at an early render for Galaxy Tab? If that's the case, though, you'd expect to see some TouchWiz coating on it. What do you think? Is it a fake?
